2025 Season in Review: 4Aces GC

First in a series of stories reviewing the 2025 season for each of the 13 LIV Golf League teams.

4ACES GC REVIEW

TEAM: With offseason addition Thomas Pieters bolstering the roster, 4Aces GC entered 2025 aiming to reclaim their 2022 championship glory. The team reached the podium on five occasions (3rd in Singapore, 3rd in Miami, 2nd in Virginia, T3 in Chicago, T3 in Andalucía), but they could not secure a team victory. a stark contrast to their 2022 season, where they won four of the seven events, and their 2023 season, where they won twice. A quarterfinals loss to Smash GC and a 7th-place finish at the Team Championship underscored a season that fell short of expectations. They will now enter the 2026 season hoping to break a winless streak that has reached 33 consecutive tournaments (30 regular season, 3 Team Championships).

PLAYERS (final points ranking)

Patrick Reed (7): The season was disappointing for the 4Aces, but it was in no way Reed's fault. Reed was the team’s most consistent player, finishing 7th in the season-long standings with 109.40 points. The Texas native earned the first win of his career in the Lone Star state after surviving a four-man playoff at LIV Golf Dallas. He made a lengthy birdie putt on the first playoff hole, earning him his first LIV Golf victory. In addition to the win, Reed had five top-10 finishes including a T4 finish in Korea. His T3 finish at The Masters was the best finish by a LIV Golf player at the season’s first major.

Dustin Johnson (14): The 4Aces were hoping for a 2025 season that saw their team captain return to the form that once made them a dominant force, but the results were inconsistent for Johnson. He finished 14th in the season-long standings with 72.90 points, thanks in part to 3rd-place finish in the final event of the season at LIV Golf Indianapolis, where he contended for the win. The two-time major champion had five top-10 finishes on the season but there’s no doubt that Johnson will be frustrated by walking away from the season winless.

Thomas Pieters (19): The offseason addition of Pieters added some much-needed depth to the 4Aces. He finished 19th in the season-long standings with 67.91 points, ending the season in the Lock Zone for the first time in his three-year LIV Golf career. Pieters had back-to-back T4 finishes in the middle of the season in Korea and Virginia and ended the season with back-to-back T8 finishes in Chicago and Indianapolis.

Harold Varner III (22): Like Pieters, Varner III finished in the Lock Zone finishing 22nd in the season-long standings with 60.31 points. The strong season came at a crucial time for Varner III, who finished 43rd in the standings in 2024. Although his spot in the standings was satisfactory, it was a bit of a Jekyll and Hyde season for the 35-year-old. He finished in the top 10 four times but also finished outside of the top 24 three times, exemplified by a T51 in Indianapolis and a poor performance in the Michigan Team Championship.

HIGHLIGHTS

4Aces GC led after 36 holes in Virginia, Dallas and Andalucía, but failed to convert those strong positions into wins. However, the finishes in the three events of 2nd, 2nd, T3 highlighted a strong stretch for the team.

Patrick Reed’s win in Dallas was the high point of the season for the 4Aces. His 7th place finish for the season marked the second time in three years he finished in the top seven.
Dustin Johnson played his way into the final group at LIV Golf Indianapolis and finished 3rd, his best finish of the season.
Thomas Pieters shot the second-lowest round of the day on Sunday at the Michigan Team Championship.
Harold Varner III led the field in Strokes Gained: Putting at LIV Golf Chicago (+2.42 per round) after losing strokes putting nine consecutive events.
4Aces were the only team that had all four players finish the season inside of the Lock Zone.

TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS

Quarterfinals: Lost to Smash GC 2-1. Johnson defeated Koepka, 1 up. Reed lost to Gooch, 1 up. Pieters/Varner III lost to McDowell/Kokrak, 6&5.

Finals (Tier 3): 7th at 17 under. Pieters 63, Johnson 65, Reed 65, Varner III 70.
