Yasir Al-Rumayyan, Governor of the Public Investment Fund, and LIV Golf CEO and Commissioner Greg Norman were honored as two of the Most Influential People in Sports Business in 2022 by Sports Business Journal.

According to the story published this week …

"No sports story drew more attention this year than the launch of LIV Golf, which sparked a civil war in golf that’s still being fought in both courtrooms and the press. LIV is led by Norman, who was able to lure over Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson and Brooks Koepka, among other top names. Al-Rumayyan is the point person for Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, which has committed over $2 billion to LIV, is pouring millions more into the Premier League’s Newcastle United and has its sights set on further investment and disruption throughout global sports."

The two men were among the 27 names listed under 15 entries in the Dealmakers & Disrupters category, a list that also included tennis legend Serena Williams, manager of Serena Ventures, and NBA star LeBron James, co-founder of SpringHill Co.

In releasing its 19th annual list of the Most Influential People in Sports Business, SBJ noted that of the 50 entries on the list, half include two or more people from the same organization.

LIV Golf previously has been voted in a SBJ reader survey as the Biggest Sports Business story of the year.
