Qualifying for the 2025 U.S. Open at Oakmont concluded on Monday, and multiple LIV Golf players closed strong at the annual grueling competition, known as golf's longest day.

Torque GC's Sebastián Muñoz, Ripper GC's Marc Leishman and Bryan Lee of Fairfax, Virginia, finished in a three-way tie for third place at the Rockville, Maryland, site. With only four qualifying spots available at Woodmont Country Club, and with two already being secured by winner Ryan McCormick and second-place finisher Trevor Cone, a three-man playoff took place for the final two spots.

When the playoff concluded, it was Leishman and Lee earning trips to the U.S. Open after Muñoz was eliminated. Leishman and Muñoz had finished at 3 under in regulation, which was comprised of 36 holes on Monday, before the playoff began.

LIV Golf players not already exempt competed in Final Qualifying on May 19 and June 2 to earn spots in the year’s third major championship.

Ten LIV Golf players were already in the field (see chart below) and did not have to go through qualifying.

On May 19, Torque GC’s Carlos Ortiz earned his way to Oakmont through the Dallas Qualifier, where seven spots were available. Ortiz finished T4 with rounds of 66-68. On the same day, Iron Heads GC’s Jinichiro Kozuma also secured a spot after a strong showing at Final Qualifying in Japan at Tarao Country Club. With three spots available, he finished third in a four-man playoff to earn entry.

Two LIV Golf players earned exemptions following the PGA Championship on May 18. Legion XIII’s Tyrrell Hatton and 4Aces GC’s Patrick Reed finished 22nd and 56th, respectively, in the updated Official World Golf Ranking following the PGA. One of the exemptions for the U.S. Open is for players inside the top 60 in the OWGR as of May 19.
