LIV Golf Format
Our unique team format has already supercharged the game of golf, and we’ve got fresh innovations for 2024. Here’s everything you need to know.
The Basics
Team golf. Pick your side and cheer them on.
Shotgun starts. Instant action. Every hole.
No cuts. Your heroes play every single day.
For 2024, we’ve got a total of 54 players: 13 teams of four players each, along with two Wild Cards each week. These Wild Cards will earn points in the individual standings and, if they perform well, could earn a future spot on a LIV Golf team.
The Season
The LIV Golf league consists of 14 events across the world’s most electric cities, with two titles at stake: the Individual Championship and the Team Championship.
The Individual Competition
Although everyone plays in teams, they also compete in an Individual Competition, which runs throughout the season.
At every tournament, each player (including Wild Cards) finishes with a three-round total score. The top 24 finishers at each event earn points on the leaderboard. The player with the most points at the end of the season wins the title.
The Team Competition
This is where it gets really innovative.
The Team Championship is decided at the final event of the season, in a knockout format that combines match play and stroke play, creating head-to-heads all over the course.
The 13 tournaments during the regular season determine the seeding for the Team Championship. Here’s how those points are determined.
Just like the individual players, each team builds a cumulative score over the three days of each event.
During the first two days of each event, only the top three players’ scores count towards their team’s round.
Then on Day 3, all four players’ scores count.
The top eight teams earn points in the team standings.
Groupings
Each event will feature 18 three-balls, all starting simultaneously with a shotgun start. And you can choose who plays together...
