Equipment changes for LIV Golf Adelaide

One of the most electrifying events in sports is set to commence as the LIV Golf players prepare to tee off at LIV Golf Adelaide.

Here are the notable equipment storylines and changes this week.

Charles Howell III

Category: Irons 

Change: Srixon ZXi7 → PXG 0317CB 

Category: Driver Head 

Change: PING G440K → Callaway Quantum Triple Diamond 

Notes: Returns to PXG 0317CB irons that were last in play at Korea in 2025 where he finished T2. Driver switch marks back-to-back events with the Callaway Quantum Triple Diamond. Last week, Howell III lost 0.80 strokes per round off the tee and –0.28 per round on approach. 

Thomas Pieters

Category: Putter 

Change: TaylorMade Spider → Titleist Scotty Cameron Fastback 1.5 

Notes: Transitions from high-MOI mallet to compact mallet blade profile, prioritizing feel and face control. Last week, Pieters was just about neutral with the putter (+0.04). 

Branden Grace

Category: Irons 

Change: Callaway X-Forged (7–PW) → Miura TC-202 

Category: Long Iron / Top of Bag 

Change: 7 Wood → Miura TC-202 3 Iron 

Notes: Completes a full Miura iron setup throughout the bag. Replaces a 7-wood with a driving iron for a more penetrating ball flight and added control off the tee. Last week, Grace was just about neutral on approach (+0.05). 

Joaquín Niemann

Category: Driver Head 

Change: PING G430 LST → PING G440 

Notes: Reverts back to the G440 model, marking back-to-back driver changes to start the season. Last week, Niemann gained 0.41 strokes off the field, which is a solid performance, but not elite by his lofty standards. 

Bryson DeChambeau

Category: Driver Shaft 

Change: True Temper Project X D70 Prototype → LA Golf 

Notes: Reverts back to his LA Golf driver shaft after testing the Project X D70 Prototype last week. Last week, DeChambeau gained 1.13 strokes per round off the tee, which is a borderline elite performance with the driver. 

NOTES FROM LAST WEEK

Thomas Pieters

In Riyadh, Pieters switched from Titleist 620 to Miura TC-202. He proceeded to have his best performance on approach since LIV Golf Adelaide last season, gaining 1.15 strokes per round, which ranked 2nd in the field. 

Sergio Garcia

Garcia made one of the most interesting equipment changes in recent memory, switching from a TaylorMade TP5 golf ball to a new Underground Golf ball. He also switched putters from a Scotty Cameron Masterful Tour Type SSS to a Golfyr The Maker Tour. Garcia gained 0.59 strokes on approach and lost 0.74 strokes with the new putter. 

Jon Rahm

Rahm switched from Elite Triple Diamond to the Quantum Triple Diamond, putting the new Callaway model in play. He was elite off the tee, gaining 1.43 strokes with the driver. He led the field in the category by a wide margin.
