KEY STORYLINES
LIV Golf returns to Hong Kong for the third consecutive season
Anthony Kim, who joined LIV Golf in 2024 after a 12-year retirement, makes his first start since winning LIV Golf Adelaide
The all-Australian Ripper GC, captained by Cameron Smith, enter Hong Kong after winning in front of their home fans in Adelaide to become the first LIV Golf team to win the first two tournaments of any season
The first two individual titles in 2026 have been won by first-time LIV Golf winners (Elvis Smylie in Riyadh, Kim in Adelaide), bringing the total to 26 different players who have won individual LIV Golf tournaments
Kim won in Adelaide while making his debut as a member of 4Aces GC – the first time he had not competed as an independent Wild Card player
Legion XIII Captain Jon Rahm, the two-time defending LIV Golf Individual Champion, has finished solo second in each of the first two tournaments in 2026 and has now been the runner-up in the last four LIV Golf regular season tournaments (and five of the last six)
Sergio Garcia returns to Hong Kong as the defending individual tournament champion while his Fireballs GC are the defending team champions
Legion XIII’s Tom McKibbin won the 2025 Hong Kong Open – also held at Hong Kong Golf Club – by 7 strokes over Peter Uihlein; other past Hong Kong Open winners who are now members of LIV Golf include Ben Campbell (2023) and Ian Poulter (2010)
COURSE NOTES
HONG KONG GOLF CLUB AT FANLING
Hong Kong
PAR: 70
YARDAGE: 6,711
Hong Kong Golf Club, established in 1889, has been a fixture in professional golf for more than six decades and has staged more elite-level golf tournaments than any other golf club in Asia.
The club has hosted the Hong Kong Open since 1959 and is part of the Asian Tour schedule as one of the 10 International Series tournaments
Hong Kong Golf Club and Augusta National are the only two golf clubs in the world that have hosted the same professional tournament for more than 60 years.
Hong Kong Golf Club is home to the oldest championship golf club in Asia. It has also received the prestigious Award of Distinction in the 2023 UNESCO Asia-Pacific Awards for Cultural Heritage Conversation
Fireballs GC’s Abraham Ancer won the inaugural LIV Golf Hong Kong in 2024 in a three-many playoff against Ripper GC Captain Cameron Smith and Crushers GC’s Paul Casey
Sergio Garcia won last year’s Hong Kong Open while his Fireballs GC team completed the sweep of both trophies
Ian Poulter, Ben Campbell and Tom McKibbin all past champions of the Hong Kong Open that is also played at Hong Kong Golf Club
LIV Golf Hong Kong will utilize the same composite layout at Fanling that is used by the Hong Kong Open
The 529-yard par 5 13th was the equal easiest hole on LIV Golf in 2025, averaging 0.78 under par across the tournament. The other par 5 (3rd hole) was the 10th easiest hole in the league in 2025, averaging 0.48 under par
The dogleg left 493-yard ninth, the longest par 4 on the course, has been the most difficult hole for the first two years of LIV Golf Hong Kong
The 288-yard par-4 fourth was the second easiest par-4 on the course and is drivable under soft conditions but has not yielded an eagle in the first two years
The field stroke average for the par-70 course in 2025 was 67.846 – nearly a half-stroke better than the previous year (68.216)
The 13th and 17th holes share a large double green, leading to potentially long putts
The par-4 16th is a slight downhill dogleg right – and offers players a blind tee shot. A nice high fade is usually the proper play
