LIV Golf and HSBC forge a lasting legacy in Fanling through key impact initiatives

HONG KONG – Following a historic week of competition at the Hong Kong Golf Club (HKGC) in Fanling, the inaugural HSBC LIV Golf Hong Kong has concluded with a significant social and environmental impact that extended well beyond the final putt. Through its global online education platform, "LIV to Learn," LIV Golf and Title Partner HSBC delivered a comprehensive suite of initiatives that increased access and participation in golf, championed youth education, and featured industry-leading sustainability.
Empowering Future Leaders: The Classroom on the Range
A cornerstone of the week’s activity was the HSBC x LIV Golf Classroom on the Range, which saw 30 students from the local community trade their traditional classrooms for the fairways of Fanling. This immersive program utilized the golf course as a living laboratory, focusing on STEM learning, agronomy, and biodiversity. Participants explored the HKGC grounds and butterfly gardens - a site recognized with the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Award for Cultural Heritage Conservation - to learn about ecological stewardship.
The experience was highlighted by a hands-on golf clinic led by Carlos Ortiz (Torque GC), who mentored the students on life skills such as resilience and well-being. Reflecting on the initiative, Jake Jones, LIV Golf’s SVP of Impact & Sustainability, noted: "Seeing the curiosity in these students as they explored the blend of both nature and technology on the golf course was an amazing highlight of this week. By partnering with HSBC, we didn't just teach these students how to swing a club, we provided them with genuine STEM learning and an appreciation for the environment that will serve them long after our departure."
International Women’s Day Panel
In recognition and celebration of International Women’s Day 2026, LIV Golf hosted an impactful panel session on Tuesday, 3 March, for LIV Golf employees, Hong Kong Golf Club members, and event staff. Victoria Hawksley, LIV Golf SVP, Retail & Merchandising
and Emily Soldano, Director of Team Operations & Partnerships - RangeGoats GC were among the panellists joined by moderator Su-Ann Heng, from LIV Golf’s Broadcast Team, for leading an honest, inspiring conversation rooted in action and impact as well as sustainable career growth for women in golf.
Highlights from the speakers include:
· “I think there's a real positivity around women in sport, no doubt. I know out there, the opportunity for us in sport is absolutely there, and it's within our power to make a real difference to those around us,” said Hawksley. “I think it's about embracing everybody, embracing everybody's diversity and being able to show where we can add real value in sport.”
· “I've been a part of the RangeGoats GC from the beginning, helping Bubba [Watson] build this brand,” Soldano said. “A big part of what we had looked at was making sure our brand fit to kids, to families, to women, especially. His wife was a professional basketball player, his daughter Dakota plays sports, so we wanted to make sure the colors and the brand and everything fit the women's side as well.”
A Community-First Approach
The tournament’s footprint reached deep into the local community throughout the week. LIV Golf Wild Card players, Scott Vincent and Richard T. Lee, visited the Salvation Army Centaline Charity Fund Queen’s Hill School, sharing stories of perseverance with local students. Additionally, the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) coordinated a Special Olympics golf clinic at the HKGC range, where club professionals provided specialized coaching to local teenagers, ensuring the tournament remained inclusive for all.
Pioneering a Sustainable Future
HSBC LIV Golf Hong Kong set a new benchmark for environmentally conscious major events in the region. The tournament successfully eliminated regular diesel usage, a landmark achievement for large-scale sporting events in Hong Kong. The Fanling Village and Media Centre were powered entirely by 100% HVO biofuel, while all other on-site generators utilized a B50 blend.
These efforts, supported by Future Green, significantly reduced the event's carbon footprint while preserving the ecological integrity of the historic Fanling site. "Our goal was to leave the Hong Kong Golf Club in even better condition than we found it, especially since the Hong Kong Golf Club has received an UNESCO Asia-Pacific Award for Cultural Heritage Conservation," added Jones. "From the biofuel powering our operations to the agronomy lessons shared with the youth, sustainability was woven into every aspect of our presence here."
