Herbert’s strong week ends with T6 finish at The Open Championship
Ripper GC’s Lucas Herbert contended late on Sunday at Royal Birkdale while Crushers GC Captain Bryson DeChambeau showed flashes before finishing T14.
Lucas Herbert's remarkable week at Royal Birkdale came to a close Sunday, and even without a Claret Jug to show for it, it will go down as one of the great LIV Golf performances in a major championship.

The Ripper GC star closed with a second straight 1-over 71 to finish at 6-under, tied for sixth. The number undersells what was an extraordinary four days of golf — a share of the all-time major championship scoring record with his Friday 62, the outright 36-hole lead, and a top-10 finish in a major stacked with the best players in the world.
Herbert entered Sunday within shouting distance of the lead and, while he couldn't quite find another gear, his week put LIV Golf and its 15-man Open field squarely in the conversation from Thursday through Sunday afternoon.
"It was a great experience, the whole week," Herbert said. "Yeah, I can't be too upset. A lot of positives to take. It's my best -- walking up the last, regardless of what happens, this is my best finish in a major. I genuinely contended. I was up around the lead for the last, what, 45 holes. There's a lot to take away from that. I've learned so much this week. It's annoying that we're 12 months away from the next major I'm going to play."
The top-10 finish earned Herbert a spot at The Open in 2027 at the Old Course at St Andrews.
Bryson DeChambeau's own remarkable turnaround also reached its conclusion, a 2-over 72 dropping him to 4 under and a tie for 14th. It was a quieter finish than the rest of his week. DeChambeau arrived at Royal Birkdale having missed the cut in three straight majors and left with plenty to be proud of.

Cleeks Golf Club’s Victor Perez and 4Aces GC’s Thomas Detry both finished strong, each posting sub-par final rounds — 68 for Perez, 69 for Detry — to close out at 2 over and 1 over, respectively.
The week for Legion XIII Captain Jon Rahm ended with a 4-over 74 to finish at even par. Fireballs GC’s Josele Ballester also finished at even par after a 3-over 73, a fitting bookend to a roller coaster major debut weekend that included a near-miss cut and a sparkling third-round 66.
RangeGoats Golf Club’s Peter Uihlein finished at 3 over for the week after an even-par 70. Legion XIII’s Tyrrell Hatton closed at 5 over overall following a tough 4-over 74, and Majesticks Golf Club’s Laurie Canter wrapped his week at 6 over after a final-round 2-over 72.
At the top of the leaderboard, Ryan Fox closed with a 2-under 68 to win at 10 under, holding off a hard-charging Cameron Young (9 under after a final-round 64) and 54-hole leader Sam Burns, who slipped to solo third at 8-under after a 2-over 72.
But for LIV Golf, this Open will be remembered less for who lifted the Claret Jug and more for a week in which its players — led by Herbert's historic 62 and DeChambeau's complete reversal of form — were at the center of the story from the opening tee shot to the last putt at Royal Birkdale.
