FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – The Europeans hope to make history Sunday. So do the Americans, who will need a rally of historic proportions to retain the Ryder Cup.

Europe will enter the final day at Bethpage Black needing to claim just three points in the 12 Singles matches after rolling to a 11.5 to 4.5 advantage through the first two days. The seven-point lead is the biggest in the modern format going into Singles, and the Europeans now hope to better the record 10-point winning margin set by the U.S. just four years ago.

“I said it at the beginning of week, we came here to try and win, to try and create history,” said European Captain Luke Donald. “We know it was going to be a very difficult task, looking at past Ryder Cups, away Ryder Cups. Three of the last four haven't been very close.

“I didn't expect to have as big a lead like this. A lot of things have gone well for us. But very happy with how strong our team is, the firepower they have, the intensity. It kind of the anti-fragile mentality.”

With his team so far behind, U.S. Captain Keegan Bradley was asked what he will say to his team in hopes of keeping their spirits positive. No team has rallied from more than four points behind on the final day to win the Ryder Cup in its current format.

“My message was, if you were a 16-year-old kid, and you were going to get to go play for your country in singles in New York at Bethpage Black, you would be so excited,” Bradley said. "Of course I want to go out there and make history tomorrow. They all do. But I think you've got to relish in the opportunity to get out on the course tomorrow and play for your country at a course like this, at a venue like this. I think it's something that you've got to look forward to.”

Legion XIII teammates Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton are now on the verge of their third Ryder Cup wins in four career appearances, respectively.

Rahm, who has a 1-1-1 record in Singles, will face Xander Schauffele while Hatton (1-2-0 in Singles) takes on Collin Morikawa.

Crushers GC Captain Bryson DeChambeau, who is 1-1-0 in his two previous Ryder Cup Singles matches, will play Englishman Matt Fitzpatrick.
