Vincent reflects on earning spot on LIV Golf League through The International Series Rankings

Scott Vincent has officially completed one of this season’s most compelling comeback stories. By finishing at the top of The International Series Rankings, the Zimbabwean star has reclaimed his LIV Golf spot, through the very same pathway that first launched him onto the global stage in 2022.

Yet this time, he says, the feeling is different.

After missing out on the 2024 LIV Golf season, Vincent’s road back has been defined by grit, self-belief, and a commitment to constant improvement. Instead of dwelling on the setback, the 33-year-old returned to where his ascent originally began: The International Series.

Across nine elevated events on the Asian Tour this year, he steadily rebuilt momentum, showcased remarkable consistency, and ultimately secured his place back among the game’s elite.

“It feels special in a different way,” Vincent reflected. “The first time, you don’t really know what you’re stepping into, it’s all new and exciting. This time, there’s a bit of redemption in there. Losing my card was tough, but putting that behind me and figuring out what changes I needed to make was a big part of the journey. I’m proud of how I responded to that.”

Earning his spot again through the same pathway only added to the significance.

“It’s amazing, really amazing,” he said. “This pathway is incredibly competitive and quite narrow. Back then, only one player made it through; this year, it was two. So to earn my way in through the same route feels unique and pretty special.”

Throughout the season, Vincent’s form trended steadily upward. His breakthrough victory at the International Series Morocco in July marked a turning point, and a runner-up finish in Jakarta reinforced that he was firmly in contention for a return to LIV Golf.

“The win in Morocco was the first moment where it felt like it could happen,” he said. “Then Jakarta made it feel even more likely, almost like, ‘Wow, this really might be on the cards.’ But even then, I just tried to focus on playing well each week, learning, growing, and preparing myself for whatever the next year had in store.”

After securing the International Series Rankings title and reclaiming his LIV Golf place, the support that followed meant just as much as the achievement itself.

“Quite a few LIV guys I’ve played with have reached out,” Vincent shared. “Some really meaningful messages. I’m very thankful for all the kind words people have sent.”

With his LIV return now confirmed, Vincent is turning his attention to what comes next, drawing on lessons from his previous campaigns while planning how best to elevate the next chapter of his career.

“We’re still working through that now because it’s only just become a reality that I’m back on LIV,” he explained. “But of course, we’ll look back at the previous years and lean into those experiences. They can help us be more prepared, know what to expect, and hopefully be better equipped this time around.”

When asked what excites him most about returning to LIV Golf next season, he was clear about what he’s looking forward to.

“Honestly, all of it,” he said. “Competing at a higher level against the best players in the world is something I’ve always loved. And this time, my family will be able to travel with me more, so I’ll get to spend more time with them.

“There’s just so much to enjoy, the places we stay, the travel, the people, the friendships we’ve built over the years. There were guys I didn’t get to see last season, and now I’ll get the chance to reconnect with them. There’s a lot to look forward to.”

Vincent is also looking forward to potentially helping the next wave of newcomers find their feet. Among them is Japan’s Yosuke Asaji, who also earned his own place on the League through The International Series Rankings.

“I’d love to help some of the newcomers,” Vincent said. “With Asaji joining and possibly a few others coming into the League, being able to share my experience with them would be great.”

Two more LIV Golf spots are still to be claimed and will be determined at the upcoming LIV Golf Promotions event, scheduled for Jan. 8–11 at Black Diamond Ranch GC in Florida. The tournament presents one final pathway for International Series players to secure their place in the League next season.

The top 10 available players from the final 2025 International Series Rankings will advance directly into round two of the event. Meanwhile, the next 25 available players within the top 40 of the Rankings, not already exempt, will begin their campaign from round one.
