Minkyu Kim, 24, Korea. LIV Golf starts (1); Best result (T42)

Younghan Song, 34, Korea. LIV Golf starts (1); Best result (T24)

OFFSEASON NEWS

The rebrand from Iron Heads GC to Korean Golf Club was one of the biggest stories of the LIV Golf offseason. The team got a new captain in Byeong Hun An as well as two new players in Minkyu Kim and Younghan Song. Danny Lee is the only player from the former Iron Heads team that will be part of the new look Korean Golf Club.

2026 OBJECTIVES

  • Finish on the podium in a tournament.

  • Finish in the top 8 of the team standings.

  • Have a competitive showing at LIV Golf Korea.

PLAYER SPOTLIGHTS

Byeong Hun An: An brings hope and momentum to Korean Golf Club. Although he had a down year in 2025, the 34-year-old is a very good player in the prime of his career. At his best, An can compete with the top talent on LIV Golf with his length off the tee and soft hands around the green.

Danny Lee: Lee is a LIV Golf winner, and although he hasn’t performed extremely well over the past few seasons, may be rejuvenated by Korean Golf Club and his three new teammates. The 35-year-old still has plenty of solid golf in front of him and will look to take a step forward in 2026.

Minkyu Kim: Kim is a fascinating prospect who was once heralded as a future star in Korean golf. Although he hasn’t become a household name in America yet, he’s had plenty of success on the Asian and Korean Tours thus far in his career. With plenty of support in the team environment, Kim still has plenty of time to blossom into a complete player.

Younghan Song: Song made one LIV Golf start as an alternate last year and put forth an impressive performance, finishing T24 on an extremely difficult course at LIV Golf Miami. He had a strong start to his career, but his progress was halted when he had to serve mandatory military service in South Korea. Over the last few seasons, Song has built some momentum that he’ll look to carry into the stiff competition of LIV Golf.

WHAT THE STATS SUGGEST

An is the only Korean Golf Club member who is known for being a long hitter off the tee, with Kim and Song both likely to finish in the bottom third of the league in driving distance. For Korean Golf Club, their success will rely heavily on the streaky putter of their captain.

WHERE CAN THEY IMPROVE?

Last season as Iron Heads GC, the team ranked 11th in the league or worse in every major statistical category except for fairways hit, where they ranked 6th. The team that finished last in the standings in 2025 can improve in just about every area.

KEY QUOTES

Byeong Hun An on becoming the captain for Korean Golf Club: “The keyword for this season is 'new beginning.' I feel I've got a fresh start here, and I'm excited about what we can achieve as a team.”

Minkyu Kim on his goals for 2026: “This is a new challenge for me, too. Through this [LIV Golf], I want to aim for the podium with the team.”

Younghan Song on joining LIV Golf: “After more than 10 years in Japan, I sometimes felt like I was falling behind. I thought it was a huge opportunity, but I couldn't decide easily because I had sponsors who have trusted me... [but] it is a major honor to take my talent to LIV Golf.”

BOTTOM LINE

Korean Golf Club is certainly capable of improving last year's Iron Heads GC team that struggled mightily. However, there are plenty of question marks surrounding the team. For the team to be competitive, An must return to his 2023-2024 form and Kim must continue to improve as a young player.

THREE BOLD PREDICTIONS

  • An will finish in the Lock Zone.

  • The team will finish on the podium at LIV Golf Korea.

  • They will improve upon their last-place finish in the standings.
