Team Power Rankings: LIV Golf Mexico City
Apr 14, 2026 - 1:10 PMWritten by: Matt Vincenzi
LIV Golf returns to Mexico City for another high-altitude showdown at Club de Golf Chapultepec. The tree-lined layout features Kikuyu fairways and rough and plays as a par 72 measuring 7,443 yards. Sitting at approximately 7,350 feet above sea level, the thin air will deliver some of the longest drives LIV Golf fans will see all season.
Last year, Joaquin Niemann came from behind, winning at 16 under in front of the passionate Latin American fans.
Here are the Team Power Rankings for all 13 teams heading into LIV Golf Mexico City.
TEAM POWER RANKINGS
1. Legion XIII
Legion XIII has been a mainstay at the top of the Power Rankings and despite not having won yet this season, they’ve finished in the top 5 of each of the five events this season. Captain Jon Rahm started slow at the Masters but rebounded nicely in his final round when he made seven birdies, one more than the previous three rounds combined. He has played great on Kikuyu grass, including at LIV Golf South Africa and courses like Riviera. Tyrrell Hatton is coming off his best-ever finish in a major (T3) and has played exceptionally well here in the past — in four starts at Chapultepec he’s never finished outside of the top 20, with a best finish of T3 at the 2018 WGC Mexico. After finishing 2025 having shown significant promise, youngsters Tom McKibbin and Caleb Surratt have gotten off to slow starts this season. If that changes, the Rahm-Hatton tandem leading the charge should be enough for Legion XIII to win.
2. Torque GC
Torque GC returns to Mexico City where Joaquin Niemann won last year. He’ll be rested and motivated after missing out on a Masters invite. Carlos Ortiz missed the cut at the Masters but will be rejuvenated by the home fans in Mexico City. Sebastian Munoz was T7 last year and Abraham Ancer, also a Mexican, was T26. Ortiz and Muñoz have been two of the league’s most consistent performers over the past few seasons.
3. Fireballs GC
The Fireballs’ sluggish start has been one of the season’s mild surprises. Despite losing Abraham Ancer to Torque GC, expectations were still high entering the season for Sergio Garcia’s team. This week offers the perfect chance for them to bounce back. Garcia made just his second Masters cut in eight attempts since his 2017 victory, leaving him primed for a strong week. Josele Ballester and David Puig, who are both young, powerful hitters and elite off the tee, should both challenge seriously on the individual leaderboard at the elevated, firm conditions of Chapultepec.
4. Aces GC
Alongside Ripper GC, 4Aces GC has authored the season’s most compelling story with back-to-back team victories in Hong Kong and Singapore. Even though Captain Dustin Johnson has yet to hit peak form, the squad has contended every single week, apart from their most recent start in South Africa. Johnson has won twice at Chapultepec in the WGC-Mexico Championship and sits 4th in the league in Strokes Gained: Putting, and putted well again at the Masters. Thomas Detry has been in great form with nothing short of spectacular results so far this season, while Anthony Kim and Thomas Pieters continue to deliver consistent, high-level performances that keep the Aces firmly in the title hunt at Club de Golf Chapultepec.
5. Ripper GC
Ripper GC has enjoyed a near-perfect start to 2026, claiming the first two events and posting a runner-up in Singapore. Captain Cameron Smith missed the cut at the Masters, but at a course like Chapultepec that demands a strong putting performance and isn’t all that demanding off the tee, he can be dangerous. Lucas Herbert finished T2 here last year and Smith finished T5.
6. Crushers GC
Bryson DeChambeau missed the cut at the Masters in surprising fashion, but he has thrived with his raw power in the altitude in South Africa and should produce fireworks at Chapultepec. Crushers GC won its previous team start in South Africa, and Paul Casey has played well here in the past, including a T3 at the 2019 WGC-Mexico Championship. While the supporting cast remains a question mark at times, the team possesses the talent to piece together strong performances in Mexico City.
7. Southern Guards GC
The Southern Guards are fresh off a heartbreaking runner-up finish at LIV Golf South Africa but may have gained some momentum with their strong play. Charl Schwartzel finished T7 in Mexico City last year and as one of the league’s best putters, could post a good finish. Dean Burmester has yet to contend at Chapultepec, but his power game should suit the course nicely.
8. RangeGoats GC
After back-to-back top-10 finishes in Hong Kong and Singapore, Matthew Wolff regressed in South Africa, finishing T53. Hopefully for the RangeGoats, that was just a minor setback in what seems to be a resurgent season. Captain Bubba Watson narrowly missed the cut at the Masters last week but finished T7 at Chapultepec last year. Watson will look to gain some much-needed momentum at a familiar course.
9. Smash GC
After a surprising second-place finish in Hong Kong, Smash GC came back down-to-earth, finishing 7th in Singapore and 10th in South Africa. Captain Talor Gooch has been very solid this season, finishing in the top 24 in all five events this season, but hasn’t contended for wins as he has over the course of his LIV Golf career. Jason Kokrak has been one of the league’s best putters this year, so he may have a chance to perform well at Chapultepec, where good putters typically thrive.
10. Cleeks Golf Club
Victor Perez finished 12th in South Africa, which hopefully is a sign of things to come for the Frenchman. Richard Bland has been solid, but they’ll need better performances from Martin Kaymer and Adrian Meronk to be competitive.
11. Majesticks Golf Club
After Lee Westwood contended in Singapore, he struggled to rally in South Africa, finishing 50th. With the other three Majesticks players struggling this season, they’ll need someone to step up and perform to help the team’s elder statesman. Ian Poulter finished 3rd at Chapultepec at the 2019 WGC Mexico, so perhaps he can pick up the slack this week.
12. Korean Golf Club
Byeong Hun An has finished 40th or worse in three consecutive starts. As the leader of the team and clear best player, the 34-year-old will need to find some form quickly if Korean Golf Club is to climb out of 12th place in the standings.
13. HyFlyers GC
The HyFlyers desperately miss the consistent presence of their leader, Phil Mickelson, both on and off the golf course. Michael La Sasso had the best start of his young career in his last time out in South Africa, finishing T12. Brendan Steele is the team’s best performer so far this season at 31st in the standings.
