IRON HEADS GC REVIEW

TEAM: Entering the year with high hopes and a new young player on the roster, Iron Heads GC ultimately had an extremely disappointing season. The Iron Heads finished last in the season-long standings, earning only one point all season (the lowest point total for a team in LIV Golf history) and were one of three LIV Golf teams to not earn a podium finish at any tournament. They finished last in five tournaments, including their “home” tournament in Korea as well as two of the last three events leading into the Michigan Team Championship. The Iron Heads came up short in the play-in round of the Team Championship, losing to Majesticks GC 2-1, and were the only team not to play the weekend.

PLAYERS (final points ranking)

Jinichiro Kozuma (32): Kozuma was the lone bright spot for the Iron Heads. He missed the first five events of the season with a back injury but made an immediate impact upon his return. The highlight of his season was a T2 finish in Dallas, where he lost in a four-man playoff won by Patrick Reed. The season was undoubtedly a success for the 31-year-old, but he began to struggle toward the end of the season. Kozuma finished 40th or worse in each of his last three starts.

Danny Lee (43): After a promising start to his LIV Golf career with a win in Tucson in 2023, it’s been a struggle over the past two seasons for Lee. He finished 38th in the standings in 2024 and 43rd this season. Lee had one top-10 finish all season, which came in Miami (T9). The 35-year-old had a poor season from tee to green, and was searching for answers all year long, making a total of 25 equipment changes. He lost strokes off the tee in 12 of 13 events and lost strokes on approach in 11 of 13.

Kevin Na (44): The Iron Heads captain had a poor season and failed to record a top-10 finish all season and his 44th place finish in the season-long standings was his worst finish in his four years on LIV Golf. His best finish of 2025 was a T12 in Hong Kong. The veteran struggled across nearly all statistical categories, most notably with his putting, where he lost strokes in 10 of 13 events. Historically, Na has been a fantastic putter but became a below-average putter for the first time in his career.

Yubin Jang (53): The Iron Heads were hopeful that the addition of a 23-year-old, promising talent would spark a successful season, but Jang failed to make a mark in 2025.

He didn’t register a top-20 finish all season, with his best result being a T21 at LIV Golf UK. Jang finished 40th or worse seven times. He will be relegated, and the Iron Heads will need to find a replacement for the 2026 season.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Jinichiro Kozuma contended at LIV Golf Dallas, falling just short of his first LIV Golf win in a four-man playoff.

  • The successful foursome pairing of Kevin Na and Jinichiro Kozuma beat the experienced team of Henrik Stenson and Ian Poulter, making six birdies in their play-in match.

  • Kozuma’s resilience to finish in the Open Zone despite missing the first five events of the season.

  • Iron Heads GC's three Korean-born players: Kevin Na, Danny Lee, and Yubin Jang, embraced their "home game" at the inaugural LIV Golf Korea at Jack Nicklaus Golf Club in Incheon with significant promotional efforts. Partnering with Coupang Play, the presenting sponsor, the team actively promoted the event, leveraging their cultural ties to engage Korean golf fans. Na, Lee, and Jang participated in a January 2025 charity event against the Grass League’s Minnesota Muskies, boosting excitement for LIV Golf’s debut in South Korea.
