FIREBALLS GC REVIEW
TEAM: Despite being upset by Phil Mickelson’s HyFlyers GC in the Quarterfinals of the Michigan Team Championship, Fireballs GC enjoyed an extremely successful season. They secured third place in the regular season standings, their highest ranking since 2022. The season started strongly for the Fireballs. Finishing 5th to begin the year in Riyadh, they then reeled off three consecutive victories in Adelaide, Hong Kong and Singapore. After cooling off in the middle of the season – a stretch that also included a lineup change from Luis Masaveu to Josele Ballester – the Fireballs finished strong, earning a spot in the top five in each of the final five events of the season leading into the Team Championship. The Fireballs finished inside the points on the team leaderboard in 11 of 13 events.
A lot to be proud of from this 2025 @livgolf_league season! Through the highs and lows of the year, we brought passion and energy to every round across the world. It’s truly special to represent @fireballsgc_ alongside great golfers and even better people. Thank you to all the… pic.twitter.com/A8E9rktRNA

PLAYERS (FINAL POINTS RANKING)
Sergio Garcia (9): The Fireballs captain delivered another strong season, finishing inside the top-10 of the Individual standings. García’s leadership and consistency were on full display, as he mentored the youngest members of the Fireballs, David Puig, Luis Masaveu, then Josele Ballester. García’s season was a microcosm of the Fireballs season overall. He started out playing as well as any player in the league, winning in Hong Kong and racking up top-10 finishes in three of his first five starts. After a pedestrian stretch in the middle of the season, the Spaniard finished the season playing relatively well. While he’d have liked to perform better in the majors and make a run at a Ryder Cup spot, he remained the heartbeat of the Fireballs and a steady presence for the team.
David Puig (10): Puig continued his rapid rise in professional golf, finishing just inside the top 10 of the season standings and inside of the Lock Zone for the first time in his two-year LIV Golf career. Puig is one of the longest hitters in the league and ranked fourth in Strokes Gained: Off the Tee, trailing only Bryson DeChambeau, Jon Rahm and Joaquin Niemann. The 23-year-old showed flashes of brilliance throughout the year, including four top-10 finishes that cemented his status as one of the league’s brightest young stars. His aggressive play and raw talent make Puig a likely candidate to be a breakthrough winner in 2026.
Abraham Ancer (12): Ancer was a reliable contributor for the Fireballs, ending the year just outside the Lock Zone. He finished in the top 10 three times and inside of the points (top 24) eight times, which led the team. Ancer found himself in contention in both Adelaide (T2) and Andalucía (3rd) and is one of the more reliable fairway finders in the league. Though he’d have liked to convert his strong season into an individual victory, Ancer proved himself as one of the team’s anchors who could always be counted on for solid points.
Josele Ballester (35): Ballester joined Fireballs GC halfway through the season at LIV Golf Virginia and was still able to finish inside of the Open Zone in limited starts. The former U.S. Amateur champion showed a great deal of promise and is undoubtedly one of the most intriguing young prospects in all professional golf. Ballester exploded onto the scene in Chicago, where he lost in a three-man playoff featuring two of the league’s best players in Jon Rahm and Dean Burmester. The 22-year-old is a vital part of the future of both Fireballs GC and LIV Golf.
Luis Masaveu (52): Masaveu, the 22-year-old from Spain playing in his first full professional season, was a full-time player for Fireballs GC in the first half of the season. He was replaced by Ballester beginning at LIV Golf Virginia; however, he played at Robert Trent Jones Club with the Fireballs as David Puig missed the start with a back injury. Masaveu’s best week for the Fireballs came at LIV Golf Singapore, where he finished T14.
