Gurugram, India - Crushers GC Captain Bryson DeChambeau and Torque GC Captain Joaquin Niemann got off to quick starts in Round 1 at International Series India presented by DLF before play was suspended due to darkness.
DeChambeau, the reigning U.S. Open champion, and Niemann, the 2024 LIV Golf Individual Champion, were 2 under through 16 holes before the horn sounded. They are chasing Eugenio Chacarra (4-under 68) and Kazuki Higa (4 under through 15 holes).
A one-hour delay at the start of the day caused by fog meant 42 players were unable to finish their rounds as darkness fell at about 6 p.m. local time.
This week’s inaugural event is the first leg of the 2025 International Series, the set of 10 events on the Asian Tour that offers players a pathway onto the LIV Golf League.
Torque GC member Carlos Ortiz and Sweden’s Charlie Lindh are in the clubhouse with a 1-under 71s – two of only six players to break par today. Ortiz was one of the few players able to finish in the afternoon. A double bogey on No. 17 spoiled a strong start.

Chacarra shot a 6-under 30 on the back nine that included an eagle on his penultimate hole, to take the clubhouse lead at DLF Golf and Country Club, one of the toughest courses in the region, where scoring was tough and par was a good score on every hole.
Danthai Boonma shot 2-under 70 and came into the week after a solid T8 performance in last week’s Smart Infinity Philippine Open – the season-opening event on the Asian Tour. Four birdies and two bogeys saw him make the kind of start he was looking for in the star-studded US$2million event.
“I feel pretty good today,” said the Thai, a two-time winner on the Asian Tour, the most recent being the Bangladesh Open in 2022. “I’m really happy with my score today because I played with no expectation because it's a tough course and that's what makes me play comfortably. Playing shot by shot and just keeping the momentum. That's it.”
