KEY STORYLINES
LIV Golf makes its first visit to the state of Indiana and its first appearance on a Pete Dye-designed course at The Club at Chatham Hills
LIV Golf Indianapolis marks the final regular-season tournament of the 2025 league season and will crown the season-long Individual Champion
Points leader Joaquin Niemann (Torque GC captain) and his closest pursuer Jon Rahm (Legion XIII captain) are the only players still in the running for the Individual Championship title
Rahm outbattled Niemann last year to win the title, but Niemann has the points advantage entering this week’s tournament
Lock Zone, Open Zone and Drop Zone positions will be finalized this week, as well as the final team seedings for next week’s Michigan Team Championship
Dean Burmester enters Indianapolis fresh off his win in a three-man playoff against Rahm and young Fireballs GC star Josele Ballester in Chicago
Burmester became the ninth different LIV Golf player to win multiple individual tournaments
Burmester’s all-South African Stinger GC team also won a playoff against Niemann’s Torque team to end a drought of 31 regular-season tournaments without a win
The Stinger sweep is the 16th time in league history that a team and one of its players have swept both trophies in the same event; the Stingers first achieved that feat in the inaugural LIV Golf London event in 2022
Ballester’s T2 finish in Chicago is the second consecutive LIV Golf event in which a 21-year-old has finished on the podium; the league’s youngest player, Legion XIII’s Caleb Surratt, finished third at LIV Golf UK by JCB
REGULAR-SEASON FINALE
LIV Golf Indianapolis will decide the league’s season-long races and determine the fate of individual players in the final points standings.
INDIVIDUAL CHAMPIONSHIP
Torque GC Captain Joaquin Niemann will take a 12.27 point lead over Legion XIII Captain Jon Rahm in a battle for the league’s top individual honor. Rahm is the defending champion but must finish 7th or better to have any mathematical chance to overtake Niemann, who controls his own fate and has a 58.7% chance of winning, according to LIV Golf data analysts. The players are guaranteed to finish top 2 in the final standings. (Click here for scenarios)
THIRD PLACE
The final bonus-paying position in the Individual Championship remains up for grabs among four players. Crushers GC Captain Bryson DeChambeau has a substantial lead on his three pursuers – Stinger GC’s Dean Burmester, Smash GC’s Talor Gooch and 4Aces GC’s Patrick Reed – and has a 96.2% chance of remaining in third place. If that happens, it would be DeChambeau’s best season-long finish in LIV Golf.
LOCK ZONE
The top 24 in season-long points are guaranteed full-time spots for the 2026 LIV Golf season. According to the data analysts, 17 players are already secured of spots, with another four with a better than 86% chance of retaining their top 24 positions. The most vulnerable players currently inside the top 24 are HyFlyers GC Captain Phil Mickelson (22) and the Crushers GC duo of Anirban Lahiri (23) and Richard Bland (24). Howell enters this week with 54.03 points. Among those hoping to play their way inside the Top 24 are Cleeks Golf Club's Richard Bland, who has finished in the Lock Zone in his first three seasons; HyFlyers GC’s Cameron Tringale; and Iron Heads GC’s Jinichiro Kozuma, who missed the first five tournaments this season with an injury. Bland and Tringale each have just under a 30% chance of moving up, while Kozuma is at 8.6%.
RELEGATION
This is the last chance for players to avoid finishing in the Drop Zone (49th or worse in points) that will result in being relegated from the league. All three Majesticks GC co-captains are at risk. Lee Westwood and Henrik Stenson rank 47th and 48th in points, respectively, while Ian Poulter ranks 52nd. According to the data analysts, Poulter has a 6.4% chance of avoiding relegation. Torque’s Mito Pereira is 49th in points while HyFlyers’ Andy Ogletree is 50th. Other full-time players in trouble are Iron Heads’ Yubin Jang (53rd), Cleeks GC’s Frederik Kjettrup (T55) and wild card player Anthony Kim (T55).
TEAM SEEDS
Seedings for next week’s Michigan Team Championship will be finalized. Legion XIII already has the top seed wrapped up. Crushers GC and Fireballs GC are in a tight battle for second. Torque GC is hoping to hang onto fourth place against a strong bid from 4Aces, with Ripper GC and Stinger GC still mathematically alive to finish fourth. Teams with the highest seeds after Indianapolis will be able to select their opponent for next week’s quarterfinals.
