MEXICO CITY – Jon Rahm delivered a masterclass at Club de Golf Chapultepec, closing with a 7-under 64 to secure a dominant six-shot victory at LIV Golf Mexico City.

The Legion XIII captain entered Sunday with a two-shot lead but quickly turned it into a runaway, posting four rounds in the 60s to finish at 21 under.

Behind him, fellow Arizona State Sun Devils products David Puig and Josele Ballester completed a Sun Devils sweep of the podium, finishing second and third, respectively.

In the team competition, Legion XIII capped a historic week with a wire-to-wire victory at 45 under, finishing nine shots clear of Fireballs GC.

Here is a last look at some of the notable performances from LIV Golf Mexico City.

ROUND OF THE WEEK

David Puig produced the round of the tournament with a blistering 9-under 62 on Saturday, falling just one shot shy of the course record at Club de Golf Chapultepec.

Puig caught fire midway through his round, playing a six-hole stretch in 7 under and briefly flirting with a sub-60 score.

“A little bit, yeah,” Puig said when asked if 59 crossed his mind. “I was actually 2-under teeing off on hole 16 … and I played the next six holes 7 under, which is pretty unbelievable.”

While the historic number ultimately slipped away, the round vaulted Puig into contention and set the stage for his runner-up finish.

CLUTCH PERFORMANCE

Jon Rahm once again showed why he remains one of the most talented players in golf, delivering a composed and decisive final round to seal the victory.

Despite some pressure from multiple challengers early in the day, Rahm stayed aggressive and efficient, carding seven birdies without a bogey and pulled away from the field.

UNDER THE RADAR PERFORMANCES

Scott Vincent: Vincent quietly delivered his best finish of the season in his HyFlyers debut, providing a much-needed spark for a team missing captain Phil Mickelson. The Zimbabwean’s performance helped lift the HyFlyers to a season-best 5th-place finish.

Branden Grace: Grace continued his strong form with a T5 finish at 11 under. He remained within striking distance through three rounds and added another solid result to an increasingly consistent season. Grace led the field in approach play from 225+ yards (+3.56) and recorded back-to-back podium finishes for the first time since 2023 (Tulsa, DC).

STATISTICAL STANDOUTS

Josele Ballester: Ballester led the field in Strokes Gained: Off the Tee (+8.09), continuing his dominant driving display throughout the week. His ability to consistently gain strokes with the driver set the foundation for his solo third-place finish.

Jon Rahm: Rahm delivered one of the most complete tee-to-green performances of his LIV Golf career, gaining +7.62 strokes off the tee (2nd) and a field-best +10.40 on approach. It marked his best week tee-to-green in LIV Golf — and remarkably, he still won by six shots despite losing strokes putting (-0.27).

Louis Oosthuizen: Oosthuizen led the field in putting, gaining an impressive +10.43 strokes on the greens. His elite performance with the flatstick was one of the best in the category by any LIV Golf player this season.

VETERAN RESURGENCE

Cameron Tringale: Tringale delivered his best performance of the season, finishing in a tie for 10th at 10 under after a strong closing 5-under 66 on Sunday.

The veteran surged up the leaderboard to secure a top-10 finish and also help the HyFlyers secure some much-needed points.

YOUNG GUN SPOTLIGHT

Josele Ballester: Ballester continues to emerge as one of golf's rising stars.

The Fireballs GC standout followed up his T6 in Singapore and T12 in South Africa with a 3rd-place finish. The Spaniard is one of the most talented drivers of the golf ball on the planet, and its clear his first LIV Golf win isn’t far away.

BIGGEST MOVERS

Here are the players who’ve made the biggest move in the season long individual points race:

Tom McKibbin: 13 spots from 38th to 25th.

Josele Ballester: 12 spots from 22nd to 10th.

Scott Vincent: 8 spots from 24th to 16th.

Michael La Sasso: 7 spots from 52nd to 45th

WHO'S TRENDING

David Puig: Puig’s breakout week in Mexico City was highlighted by a third-round 62 and a runner-up finish at 15 under. His aggressive mindset and ability to go low make him one of the most dangerous players on LIV Golf right now. The Spaniard has finish T8 or better in four of his six LIV Golf starts this season.

Tom McKibbin: It’s been a sluggish start to the season for McKibbin, who had high expectations entering the season after winning the Link Hong Kong Open this past fall. The Northern Irishman’s T5 finish in Mexico City feels like a sign of things to come.

Matthew Wolff: Wolff added another strong result with a T5 finish, continuing his run of solid play. He has now finished in the top 10 in three of his six starts this season. In 2025, Wolff had only one top 10 finish the entire season.

QUOTES OF THE WEEK

Jon Rahm on whether something clicked in his final round at the Masters:

“Yeah. Adam and I nearly got in a heated argument on Saturday on the putting green at Augusta when he was trying to explain something, and I wasn't fully understanding. Once it clicked what he was trying to say and what I needed to work on that range session Saturday afternoon, it was so much better Sunday at Augusta.”

Caleb Surratt on the fans in Mexico City:

"It was an amazing experience. One thing I thought was really cool about this week is I felt like there was more kids here than some other events that I've seen. Just seeing a bunch of little kids having a ton of fun watching golf and with their friends seemed really cool. I look forward to hopefully being back. It's a pretty awesome place.”

Josele Ballester on not being completely satisfied with his third-place finish:

“Right now I'm a little disappointed. Not very happy with the way I finished the last three holes or the way that I felt around the greens. Honestly, I didn't feel that comfortable today, but I'm a great competitor, and I kind of kept it going and kept it interesting towards the end. Just didn't execute, didn't feel that comfortable. Maybe right now it's a lot of negatives, but yeah, it's been a great week overall. I started 3-over the front nine on Thursday, so finishing solo third is not too bad I feel like.”

Josele Ballester on a lesson he learned from his father:

“Well, as my dad always tells me, it's about giving yourself opportunities. Some days will be a little bit better, other days not that well. But yeah, as you said, I'm still new to this profession, as well. These environments, these feelings are new for me, and hopefully next time I'll do a little bit better.”

David Puig on having three Spanish players finish on the podium for the first time in LIV Golf history:

“It's just amazing to see us three in the top 3. Obviously we're really good friends, all of us, and we see each other every week. Josele is kind of starting to get in that boat a little bit. But me and Jon, we spend, like, at least four or five days a week when we're playing together and working out. It's obviously great for me to have him around because he teaches me a lot of stuff.”

David Puig on how often he thinks about trying to qualify for the U.S. Open:

“A lot. I'm actually probably with that second place, hopefully I'm a little closer to the top 60, as well, in case that exemption doesn't come through. But I think about it all the time. Playing majors is just amazing.”
