The 2026 LIV Golf season starts next February under the lights in Riyadh, and in the next few months, we’ll take a detailed look at each player competing next season. Next up is a player who made LIV Golf history on multiple occasions in 2025, Sebastian Munoz.
LOOKING AHEAD
Muñoz has become an incredibly reliable player for Torque GC and has elevated himself into the upper echelon of the league with his steady play. Now that he’s won his first LIV Golf event, the 32-year-old has the talent to start winning more often going forward. Muñoz certainly has the game to compete in major championships but hasn’t played in one since the 2023 U.S. Open. He will be among the non-exempt players looking to get into 2026 majors by way of his place in the LIV Golf standings.
LOOKING BACK
Muñoz had one of the most impressive seasons of any LIV Golf player. The Colombian showed remarkable improvement and finished in the top 10 in the season-long standings for the first time in his LIV Golf career. He didn’t have as many wins as his captain Joaquin Niemann, but he did lead the team with 12 finishes inside the points-earning top-24 in his 13 starts.
The Colombian put on a show when he earned his first LIV Golf victory in Indianapolis, becoming the first player in professional golf history to shoot 59 in a round where a double-bogey was recorded on the scorecard. His 59 was just the third sub-60 round in LIV Golf history. Muñoz made 13 birdies in his final 14 holes, including a LIV Golf record of eight consecutive birdies. His 14 birdies in a single round was another historic first in professional golf.

WHAT THE STATS SAY
Strengths: Muñoz’ greatest strength in 2025 was his approach play. Strokes Gained: Approach is often the most important indicator of who is in form from week to week, and Munoz consistently gave himself birdie chances with his stellar iron game. He ranked 2nd in the league in Strokes Gained: Approach and was particularly dangerous with a wedge in his hand from 150 yards and in, where he also ranked 2nd.
Muñoz ranked 10th in the league in Strokes Gained: Off the Tee, which was due in large part to his driving accuracy rather than his driving distance. His ability to hit fairways while being one of the best iron players in the league paved the way for his breakout season.
After reaching the green with remarkable efficiency on a regular basis, Muñoz also had a strong season with the putter, ranking 15th in Strokes Gained: Putting.
Weaknesses: Muñoz ranked in the bottom half of the league in Strokes Gained: Approach (28th). Due to his 5th place ranking in Green in Regulation percentage, he didn’t have to rely much on his around the green play. However, if his ball striking isn’t quite as spectacular in 2026, he’ll need to improve in this area.
Muñoz was poor with his long irons (225+ yards) and ranked 43rd in Strokes Gained: Approach from that distance, losing 0.12 strokes to the field per round on average. He was able to take advantage of the shorter courses utilized by LIV Golf but will need to improve his long iron play if he’s to compete at some of LIV Golf’s most difficult tests.

BOTTOM LINE
It will be a challenge for Muñoz to top 2025 as the best season of his career, but he can do so if he’s able to rack up multiple individual wins after gaining confidence with his performance at Chatham Hills last season. His consistency should help Torque GC chase their first Team Championship after they replace the relegated Mito Pereira.
