LIV Golf Indianapolis sets new sustainability benchmark, advancing toward zero waste goal for 2026

INDIANAPOLIS – LIV Golf, the global golf league and leader in sports sustainability, today announced that LIV Golf Indianapolis at The Club at Chatham Hills has delivered one of the strongest sustainability performances of the 2025 season. The tournament achieved an 84% waste diversion rate, successfully laying the operational groundwork to reach a 90%+ diversion rate—the standard for "Zero Waste" certification—when the event returns in 2026. This milestone is a testament to LIV Golf’s broader Impact and Sustainability strategy.

To achieve these results, LIV Golf worked closely with Henke Development Group, the developer of The Club at Chatham Hills, and Par 5 Group, the event management company for LIV Golf Indianapolis 2025, which employed Blue Strike Environmental to serve as the sustainability consultant and lead operational partner for the event. Working alongside the City of Westfield, Visit Indy, Hamilton County Sports Authority and the event’s Sustainability Committee, Blue Strike designed and implemented the tournament's holistic sustainability program, overseeing waste diversion strategy, material recovery pathways and on-site sorting operations. The official GEO Auditor’s report praised this collaborative approach, highlighting advanced infrastructure that included 100% solar-powered light towers and battery storage systems to reduce fuel dependency. Furthermore, the event prioritized site protection through a specific environmental management plan that safeguarded local wetlands, while utilizing innovative irrigation strategies such as greywater and collected humidity to water landscaping.

Under the operational guidance of Par 5 Group and Blue Strike Environmental, LIV Golf Indianapolis implemented a comprehensive materials management program grounded in the waste hierarchy. By collaborating with partners like Second Helpings (8,436 lbs. of food rescued), RE317 (5,045 lbs. composted), InProduction (85% mesh recovered) and ReWorld (waste-to-energy), the event successfully diverted otherwise landfill-bound waste to maximize environmental benefit. In a tournament first, 100% of vendors submitted sustainability data, enabling a complete Scope 1-3 greenhouse gas emissions and materials inventory. Additionally, LIV Golf, The Club at Chatham Hills and Duke Energy worked together to purchase Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) from an Indiana-based solar array, retiring them on behalf of the host venue.

Their strong local infrastructure, engaged partners and collaborative leadership make them an exceptional host and a model for continued sustainability success." 

Beyond operations, the tournament focused on delivering on its Impact strategy to LIV Golf Indianapolis’ deeply engrained community programs. The event facilitated roughly $50,000 in donations to local charities and championed inclusion through an All-Abilities Golf Clinic and a Fairway Futures Career Day, which introduced high school students from underrepresented communities to careers in sports and sustainability. To ensure widespread engagement, "Know Before You Go" guides educated volunteers on sustainability protocols, while on-site digital messaging and social media updates kept fans engaged with real-time data on food donations and energy savings. 

Building on this success, LIV Golf Indianapolis has set a clear path toward achieving Zero Waste certification in 2026. Planned enhancements include expanded upcycling, broader composting coverage, a formal bike-count and a carbon-reduction tracking program.
