The Open Final Qualifying, The International Series Morocco and DP World Tour event on tap

This week, LIV Golf Watch: The Week Ahead tracks the participation of LIV Golf players in three significant events: Final Qualifying for the 153rd Open Championship at Royal Portrush, The International Series Morocco and the BMW International Open on the DP World Tour in Germany. With 14 players competing in Open Qualifying, six in Morocco and five in Munich, LIV Golf’s presence will be felt across the world of golf. Here’s where and how LIV Golf players are competing this week.

THE OPEN: 14 LIV GOLF PLAYERS IN FINAL QUALIFYING

At Burnham & Berrow in Somerset, Jinichiro Kozuma (Iron Heads GC), Caleb Surratt (Legion XIII), and Anirban Lahiri (Crushers GC) will be competing for a coveted Open Championship spot. Lahiri is seeking his first Open start since 2018, while Kozuma and Surratt aim to make their debut appearances at The Open Championship.

Dundonald Links in Ayrshire hosts Lee Westwood (Majesticks GC) and Adrian Meronk (Cleeks Golf Club). Westwood, who tied for fourth at Portrush in 2019, last played The Open in 2022. Meronk is targeting his fourth consecutive Open appearance.

Royal Cinque Ports in Kent features a larget LIV Golf contingent: Smash GC's Graeme McDowell , Ian Poulter (Majesticks GC), David Puig (Fireballs GC), Dean Burmester (Stinger GC), and Peter Uihlein (RangeGoats GC). McDowell, the 2010 U.S. Open champion from Northern Ireland, finished T-6 at Portrush in 2019. Notably, Ian Poulter’s son, Luke Poulter, a standout at the University of Florida who missed out on U.S. Open qualifying in a playoff, is also competing at the same venue.

At West Lancashire, Sam Horsfield (Majesticks GC), Lucas Herbert (Ripper GC), Andy Ogletree (HyFlyers GC), and Harold Varner III (4Aces GC) aim to punch their tickets to The Open.

Sergio Garcia has already qualified for The Open via his performance on the LIV Golf points list through LIV Golf Dallas (5th), joining LIV’s already exempt representatives at Royal Portrush.

“It’s going to be my second time playing at Royal Portrush, and it’s obviously nice," Garcia said. "It’s one of the goals you have at the beginning of the year, to try to play as many majors as you can with the limitations we [have]. I didn’t help myself much the last three months, but I’m glad I got enough work done early in the season. I’m excited and hopefully I’ll play well.”

The 14 players in Final Qualifying aim to add to LIV’s representation at Portrush.

LIV GOLF STARS READY FOR THE INTERNATIONAL SERIES MOROCCO

A host of LIV Golf stars will be competing at The International Series Morocco at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam in Rabat.

Peter Uihlein and Ben Campbell of RangeGoats GC, Charl Schwartzel of Stinger GC, Andy Ogletree of HyFlyers GC, Mito Pereira of Torque GC and Caleb Surratt of Legion XIII will be competing from July-3-6.

Uihlein will pose a threat after claiming two victories on The International Series last season in England and Qatar.

For Campbell, 33, Morocco is where his rise onto the LIV Golf League truly began. His victory at International Series Morocco in 2024 proved pivotal, sparking a stellar season which included three top-5 finishes. That run of form caught the eye of RangeGoats GC Captain Bubba Watson, who added him to the roster.

"Returning to Morocco is incredibly special,” said Campbell. “Last year’s win really changed the trajectory of my career. The course, the energy there, it all came together for something unforgettable. I’m excited to be back and ready to defend the title.”

LIV GOLF PLAYERS AT BMW INTERNATIONAL OPEN

Five LIV Golf players are competing in the BMW International Open on the DP World Tour in Munich, Germany, from July 3-6. The field includes Sergio Garcia, Patrick Reed, David Puig, Josele Ballester, and Martin Kaymer.

This week marks Garcia’s first DP World Tour start since the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth in September 2022, where he withdrew after an opening-round 76.

After joining LIV Golf in 2022, Garcia was suspended by the DP World Tour and accumulated over $1 million in fines for competing in LIV events, leading him to resign his DP World Tour membership in May 2023. To regain his Ryder Cup eligibility, he reapplied for membership for the 2025 season, submitting his application before the November deadline, paid his outstanding fines, and agreed to serve his suspension, making him eligible to return to DP World Tour events.

The Fireballs GC captain has made 14 starts at the BMW International Open from 2001 to 2022. In 2008, he lost at the fifth sudden-death playoff hole to fellow Spaniard Pablo Larrazábal. He also has two additional runner-up finishes in 2011 and 2017.

After LIV Golf Dallas, the 45-year-old spoke about his 5-week stretch of golf.

“It's a five-week stretch, so it's going to be Dallas, BMW Munich, Valderrama, British Open and JCB, so it's a big stretch. But thankfully I'm doing well physically, even at my age, and hopefully I'll be able to get through the five weeks well.”

Patrick Reed, fresh off his first ever LIV Golf victory in Dallas, will be making his second consecutive start at the BMW International Open. Last year, the 4Aces GC star finished T13 in his debut at the event.

Puig will be making his debut at the event but has played in two DP World Tour events this year, finishing 3rd at the Ras Al Khaimah Championship in January and T4 at the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship in February.

Ballester, LIV Golf’s newest signing for the Fireballs, will be making his DP World Tour debut as a professional. He did, however, make a start in 2024 at the Acciona Open de España as an amateur (MC).

Kaymer, a German native born in Düsseldorf and a resident of Mettmann, has a strong connection to the event, having won it in 2008 as the first and only German champion in the tournament’s history.
