Black Diamond Ranch
Lecanto, Florida
LIV Golf Promotions heads to Black Diamond Ranch for the first time in 2026, with competition staged on The Ranch Course. The four-round qualifying event will dictate the pathway for two players into the 2026 LIV Golf League.
Located in Citrus County, around one hour north of Tampa, Black Diamond Ranch offers a setting and test that is a departure from recent Promotions venues. The Ranch Course is a Tom Fazio design known for its rolling terrain, mature oak corridors and natural elevation changes that are rare in Florida golf.
About the course
The Ranch Course is a disciplined, strategic layout that places an emphasis on control, positioning and decision-making. Fairways are framed by trees rather than water, with angles off the tee often dictating approach options. Greens are subtly contoured and well protected, demanding precise distance control.
Tom Fazio has frequently pointed to the closing stretch at The Ranch as one of his strongest finishing sequences. Holes 16 through 18 provide a demanding conclusion where small mistakes can quickly compound.
What happened before we got here?
Black Diamond Ranch opened in 1987 and quickly established itself as one of Florida’s premier private clubs. While the Quarry Course on site is widely recognised for its dramatic visuals, The Ranch has long been regarded as the more complete competitive test.
In 2024, architect Tripp Davis completed a comprehensive renovation of The Ranch Course, which included re-grassing the fairways, roughs, and tees, reconstructing the greens, and installing all-new bunkers and a replacement irrigation system.
LIV Golf Promotions 2026 marks the first time the league has used Black Diamond Ranch as a qualifying venue.
How does this course play?
Methodical and unforgiving. The Ranch Course does not rely on extreme length, but it consistently challenges players to hit the correct shot. Missed fairways bring recovery shots into play, and greens reward patience rather than aggression.
Across four rounds, volatility is punished. Consistency and composure are key.
Who will it favour?
Players with strong ball control, disciplined course management and the ability to repeat quality shots under pressure. Power can help in places, but this is a course that favours players who limit mistakes and stay mentally steady across multiple resets.
What’s at stake?
LIV Golf Promotions 2026 takes place January 8 to 11, with official practice rounds from January 5 to 7.
The top two finishers earn full-season playing rights on the 2026 LIV Golf League.
The top 10 finishers, including ties, also secure full exemption into the 2026 International Series.
With scores resetting after the opening rounds and only the final round carrying over, every stage of the competition presents a fresh test.
What should be expected?
A controlled environment. A demanding course. And four days where execution and resilience determine who moves on to the next level.
The Ranch Course may not rely on theatrics, but it consistently tests every part of a player’s game and rewards those who stay disciplined from the first tee shot to the final putt.
